Ending the Journey

Finally the moment to say good bye to many friends in Tunisia arrived, to say it is never easy, however I consider it necessary for close cicles.

On Friday 15th June, I finally said for last time thanks to Slim's family, they were really nice with me hosting me at their home and taking me as part of their family. Even that I said many times thanks to them, I think that it was never enough for expressing how thankful and how much I enjoyed the time that I were there.

The next day Steffi, Sarka, Aroh, Jason, some french friends and me met in Sousse and Monastir, It was great to see them again and have the chance to expend my last weekend with them.

On Sunday finally re-packing doing big efforts for reduce my luggage to 20kg (really impossible mission, fortunately the airline wasn't so strict about it). I had the chance to meet with many friends from Sfax people that really cared about me. I went to the cafe where I went the first time when I arrived to Sfax, It was a really touching moment for me because the people that were there and because the people that wasn't there too.

After the cafe we went to the appartment were the other trainees prepared a delicious dinner, having the chance to expend with them my last moments in Sfax in this nice dinner taking ramdom pictures and having fun, but also with the feeling that I won't see them again the next morning in the kitchen, that I won't talk with them in the living room or the won't fight again for the bathroom. The time to left come and, even that they had to work the next day they went with me to the train station at 2:00 in the morning and they staid there with me until the train left. I will always remember these moments.

The trip to Djerba was 4 hours thinking and remembering everything that had happened to me in the country, even that it was the early morning I couldn't sleep, I was just remembering the people that I left there.

When I arrived to Djerba I met a friend of friend, who picked me up in the bus station, even that it was too early and he didn't know me before, to met Walid and have the chance to talk with him, and to know a little bit more the island and people from there confirmed one more time that Tunisian people is very friendly and hospitalary.

Then finally I took th e plane and some hours later, Iarrived to Paris, with the excitement of knowing a new country, and be in a place where I always wanted to visit. I met with Arne and he hosted be at his place. It was nice to see him again, remember the time that I spent in Dortmund and collect his signiture in my goodbye present that the LC Dortmund gave me. The next day I met some trainees from Paris, and I met with Kate too our lovely Delegate Servicing team leader in the CC in Poland. This days in Paris where live wrapping up my trip remembering the nice time that I spent in Poland and Germany thanks to Arne and Kate.

Also I had the opportunity for sightseeing I definitely loved the city and visit many places that I knew before in my french books.

Finally I took the plane which final destination was Mexico City, were finally I met again with my family. I still have to meet again with many friends I hope I will do it soon.

I voluntary ommited to say in what moments I cried because it could be so repetitive, but to close this experience is a good reason for it.

last month and a half report

Keep going with the monthly reports, I should start telling that as soon we arrived from the trip to the Sahara, we moved to a new apartment, better placed and bigger than the first one but without the chance to talk with neighbors, Also Sarka (CZ) arrived, so we were 5 trainees living together, really a nice experience.

We went to Kerkena again, finally it was sunny and we have the chance to swim in the sea, the beach in Kerkena is not so deep so you can walk more than 100 m inside the sea, literally walk. But it was nice and also we collected some shells.

The evenings after work was really great too, sometimes going to the café Arcades to meet with AIESECers sometimes just staying at home talking (well most of the times complaining) about our work, or philosophizing with Armand questions.

We attended an event organized by La Maison de France, it was an international culinary presentation, so I cooked Chiles en Rajas, well it was really good considering that it was the first time cooking this dish. In this event we met with people from different countries that are living in Sfax, and also we tried delicious food from the different countries too!

Also thanks to a loan from my private Deustche Bank (thanks Chiraz ;) ) I had the chance to go to Djerba. The trip was great, meeting new people; the hotel was nice definitely I enjoyed a lot this trip.

After the situations turned quite crazy, with problems in the company, ending with a not grate event including the use of self defense skills, situation that made me decide to finish my internship before.

This experience also let me know more the people around me, who really care about me. It let me see faces of people that I didn’t expect to could have this kind of reaction, in positive and in negative way.

Fortunately, one of these nice persons whom I’m talking about invited me to his home in Tunis, where I have been expending my last days in Tunisia, visiting amazing places like Sidi Bou Said, Carthage, the Medina, etc. and also living again in a great family environment.

The last days I had reflected a lot about what to do, and after not finding an internship here, that could really bring me the experience and learning that I want it this moment, I decided to go back to Mexico, and look for other opportunities there or somewhere else.

I still have to decide how I want to conclude this experience; I have to put in a balance my personal affects and the fact that maybe it could happen again to someone else, and also consider the repercussion of these events for all the parties.

Well, that’s it for the moment.

Greetings from sunny Tunis
