Mexican Independence day Abroad!
Well, I'm still in Warsaw, so I was here for the celebration of the Independence of Mexico. Usually in Mexico I'm not very used to celebrate this day, well sometimes the traditional Mexican Party.
This year it was a special situation (of course, I'm not in Mexico), and I was told that the Embassy of Mexico in Poland was organizing and event to celebrate this day. Fortunately, after going to the embassy and listen the complain of the consul assistant that a lot of Mexican remembered that Mexico have an embassy in Poland exactly 2 or 3 days before September 15th, I was invited to this event.
The fancy event was in the Hyatt, and when Juan Carlos (other Mexican AIESECer, in Warsaw), a friend of JC and I arrived, the ambassador was welcoming everyone. We had the opportunity to greet the ambassador and his wife, and the representatives of the embassy. Near the door the waiters was receiving the people with Margaritas, wine and other beverages.
In the event we had the opportunity to know more Mexican living in Poland, and also there was ambassadors of other countries, people from Mexican companies that operate in Poland, Polish people married with Mexican, people interested in Mexican Market or Mexican product, etc.
The "grito" was given by the ambassador (Usually it's given for the primary Mexican authority in the place and is the representation of the calling Miguel Hidalgo did to the Mexican people to start the independence movement).
The food was great too; there was a buffet with international food and of course Mexican food. And they was giving Tequila, and Corona's beer and other beverages so of course we had drunk and eaten a lot (Well, what can I say it was free).
The funny story is that at the moment of the "grito" I had in my hand a plate full of sushi, so I answered the "grito" and sang the Mexican hymn, with sushi in my hand hehe, very international.
