last month and a half report

Keep going with the monthly reports, I should start telling that as soon we arrived from the trip to the Sahara, we moved to a new apartment, better placed and bigger than the first one but without the chance to talk with neighbors, Also Sarka (CZ) arrived, so we were 5 trainees living together, really a nice experience.

We went to Kerkena again, finally it was sunny and we have the chance to swim in the sea, the beach in Kerkena is not so deep so you can walk more than 100 m inside the sea, literally walk. But it was nice and also we collected some shells.

The evenings after work was really great too, sometimes going to the café Arcades to meet with AIESECers sometimes just staying at home talking (well most of the times complaining) about our work, or philosophizing with Armand questions.

We attended an event organized by La Maison de France, it was an international culinary presentation, so I cooked Chiles en Rajas, well it was really good considering that it was the first time cooking this dish. In this event we met with people from different countries that are living in Sfax, and also we tried delicious food from the different countries too!

Also thanks to a loan from my private Deustche Bank (thanks Chiraz ;) ) I had the chance to go to Djerba. The trip was great, meeting new people; the hotel was nice definitely I enjoyed a lot this trip.

After the situations turned quite crazy, with problems in the company, ending with a not grate event including the use of self defense skills, situation that made me decide to finish my internship before.

This experience also let me know more the people around me, who really care about me. It let me see faces of people that I didn’t expect to could have this kind of reaction, in positive and in negative way.

Fortunately, one of these nice persons whom I’m talking about invited me to his home in Tunis, where I have been expending my last days in Tunisia, visiting amazing places like Sidi Bou Said, Carthage, the Medina, etc. and also living again in a great family environment.

The last days I had reflected a lot about what to do, and after not finding an internship here, that could really bring me the experience and learning that I want it this moment, I decided to go back to Mexico, and look for other opportunities there or somewhere else.

I still have to decide how I want to conclude this experience; I have to put in a balance my personal affects and the fact that maybe it could happen again to someone else, and also consider the repercussion of these events for all the parties.

Well, that’s it for the moment.

Greetings from sunny Tunis

First Month in Tunisia!

Hey it seems that this will come back to be a monthly report, I will try to post more often.

During this month many things have happened, I had the opportunity to travel a little bit, and the work everyday is more interesting, as it's a small company I have the chance to do more and develop things that in other companies maybe I wouldn't be able. I still not able to speak arabic but at least my french is most better than when I arrived, so it allows me to communicate.

About the live everything is going well too, we just moved to a new flat, much bigger than the other one, and pretty close to my workplace so it takes me 5 mins to go to work :).

The people here is very kindly and friendly, and as Sfax is not a touristic place the people is very interested in us, well more in the others that in me because I looks like tunisian heheh, but it also is an advantage because I can go everywhere and the people is not looking at me all the time.

About travels I have gone to El Jem, where is placed a Roman Coliseum, the 3rd biggest in the world, the place is amazing.

I have gone to the islands in front of Sfax, at is also nice to take a ferry for going there.

And the last trip that I did is to go to the Sahara, this trip was great I had the opportunity to know locations of Stars Wars ( And remember when Luke Skywaker was walking in the same place than me :) ) see the sunset and the dawn in the dessert, ride a camel, a really great experience.

I also had the opportunity to participate in a Global Village organized by the LC, as I didn't come straight from Mexico, I only had the mariachi tie, one small hat, Valentina's sauce and powder chilli, so my gastronomic presentation was orange with chilli and frites with valentina ahahhaha, at last the people was very interested in Mexico.

Applying the Murphy's law, when you need to do a country presentation your CD with presentations disapears!

Well It's all by the moment I have to continue my work.

Cheers from sunny Tunisia!

First Report from Tunisia

Hey finally I'm taking some minutes to update this blog!, I'm finally in Sfax, Tunisia doing my internship and there are a lot of things to write that I just can no find the way to start, well whatever I just writing down if it's not coherent sorry hheheheh.

First ,I arrived to Monastir where one member of AIESEC Thyna was waiting for me, after solve some problem with inmigration finally I took the train to Sfax, and arrived to Dali's home were I lived for some weeks.

The next day we went to sightseeing and there was the big wall of the medina, really amazing even that I see it everyday I still like it a lot, to walk inside the medina is also great, the environment is fantastic.

Then we went to a Arabic cafe inside the medina, I drank traditional thee, and smoke chicha, and meet a lot of AIESEC members.

The next monday I started to work, the company is new and is starting with the exportations department, so in syntesis my work is to look for opportunities of exporting for a wide list of tunisian products.

I also arrived on time for going to the Leadership Development Seminar (TULDS), fortunately the company allowed me to go so I had the chance to experience a very motivating conference, with very passioned and crazy AIESEC people, really to live a conference here was a great experience, sometimes it was difficult to understand 'cos my french in this moment is not the best, however I really had a great time there, other thing is that the hotel was amazing too. Durind the conference they asigned Tnunisian names to all the interns so mine is Ridha, so in the name of the blog is written in arabic.

During the first weeks I was living in Dali's home, his family is really lovely, they almost adopted me, hehe. Even that it was because logistics reasons (as I was the first trainee of this term the appartment wasn't ready) I really liked to live there and knew how is the family life in Tunisia.

And what can I say about the food is just delicious (as Mexican I like spicy food, so I just can love the food here) .

Now I finally moved to the trainees apartments were I live with a Aroh (Japan), Steffi (Germany), Aemgh (Cameroon), I going to work everyday and I hope that I will have chance to travel soon to know about this amazing country.

At last this is the menu where I usually have lunch, any suggestion?
